I Live In a House Not a Tipi, Thank You
This program teaches students that Native Americans exist in the present day, and attempts to dispel myths and misconceptions created by television, movies, parents, and even educators.
Through the use of stories and biographies of famous contemporary Natives, personal and family stories, videos, and plenty of discussion time, students will learn that Native people are real people and still exist. All content is age and grade level appropriate. Time will be allotted at the end of the program (and during) for questions & answers and discussion. Three short videos, "Life Between Two Worlds, "What We Are", and "What We Are Not" will also be shown during the program.
Recommended Grades: 2 - 12
Running Time: 45 minutes
Single and Back-To-Back programs are available.
Both programs described above are also available as one hour workshops in conjunction with a regular program. Click here to find out more.
